Smoke Test
A diagnostic check used to find air or vacuum leaks in the engine and emissions system.
Service Description
During the test, a technician uses a special machine to pump harmless smoke into parts of the engine system (such as the intake, vacuum lines, or EVAP system). If there’s a leak, the smoke will escape from the faulty area, making the problem easy to see. What a smoke test is used for Finding vacuum leaks Diagnosing engine management or emissions faults Tracing causes of poor running, rough idle, or warning lights Checking the EVAP system (fuel vapour leaks) Why it’s useful Many leaks are too small to see or hear during a normal inspection. A smoke test is quick, accurate, and avoids guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily. In short: if smoke comes out where it shouldn’t, that’s where the problem is.
Free Pick Up Service Terms and Conditions 1. The Free Collection and return service is available for appointments with start times between 9am and 12 noon on weekdays. 2. Free Collection is not available on Saturdays. 3. Free Collection is not available for MOT re-tests, puncture repairs or non-start vehicles. 4. We will not collect from addresses further than 3.5 miles from our postcode DY8 4YJ 5. All vehicles are collected between 8am and 10am on the day of the appointment. 6. Collections are round trips. We will not return a vehicle we did not collect and vice versa. 7. For non-start vehicles, we can arrange collection via a third party. Please call us to arrange. 7. Our booking system is not able to check for the terms and conditions above and will allow customers to make a booking even your booking violates our terms and conditions. For any bookings that do not comply with these conditions, a member of staff will call on the morning of your appointment to inform you that we will not be collecting the vehicle. You can still keep your appointment though as long as you bring the vehicle to our premises yourself. 8. When you book your appointment, a confirmation email is sent to you containing all these details.
